KHALWENGE – Organic Agricultural development
One of our first challenges was to deal with the subsistence farming practices.
With the support of Step30 Taiwan, we enrolled 7 young men from Khalwenge
at the Organics 4 Orphans Agricultural Centre in the Kitale district, with the
specific intention that after their training they would start Organic Farming
whilst also training local farmers in productive, organic farming methods.
After completing their course, they started planting without delay, and within
only 9 months, the first ‘fruits’ of their labour are ready for picking!
Much still needs to be done, but their training is bearing fruit,
and the local farmers are eager to learn.

with George Achieng Otiendo (center leader)
One of Covenant Ministries / Kidsworld’s Community projects is training in sustainable Organic farming as well as assisting with the drilling for water to ensure that the project is successful.
After training in Kitale, Boaz returned to Asembo and immediately started preparing the soil for planting.
In the meantime the well was being drilled and the necessary piping laid.
Everyone is looking forward in anticipation to the first harvest …
Thank you to all our partners who have supported us and helped make this all possible

Girlcare Kenya
– Hygiene, Health care and Skills Training
Hellen Mwashi
Hellen who is in charge of the Hearns Kidsworld Centre, has not only for many years been involved in skills training for young girls, but has also constantly looked for more ways of touching and impacting the lives of young girls, in particular as far as health and hygiene are concerned.
So when she was introduced to the re-usable Sanitary Pad concept, she immediately saw the potential of not only introducing this to women and in particular young girls, but to combine the skills training with hygiene and health care training.
At present there are already two communities where the project is running, in Butere,
Kakamega (Western Kenya) and in Lodwar, Turkana County (Northern Kenya).

Hellen Mwashi who is in charge of the Hearns Kidsworld Centre
is always looking for opportunities to reach out to girls and young
women and having become aware of the lack of good hygiene in
the local women’s prison. Hellen immediately set out and obtained
permission to also train the female prisoners hygiene and in particular
also in training them to make their own re-usable Sanitary pad,

Reaching out and impacting the lives of young girls
Elizabeth Mumbi (Mudenyo)
After having been introduced to the Covenant Ministries Training, having heard Papajan teach about being fruitful, and knowing the great need amongst her own people, Elizabeth started to look for a way of personally doing something, particularly in the lives of young girls.
Through Kidsworld Projects, Covenant Ministries supported her in starting a few Skills Training centres, with the goal of training girls in skills such as Sewing and Dressmaking. It was through this closer contact with young girls, that Elizabeth saw the serious lack of sanitary training and support for girls. Seeing how that young girls were missing school for a week every month, not knowing how to help themselves, falling pregnant and open to HIV. Elizabeth knew where she needed to get involved.
Realising that more than just talks and some giveaways were needed to be
of any real help.
Her prayers were answered when she met Cathy, a Canadian who seeing what was being done at Kidsworld Centres and hearing about the sanitary issues, showed Elizabeth a way of hand making ‘reusable’ sanitary pads …

Kidsworld Shoes Container – Kitale, Kenya
The first Container arrived from Step30, an outreach group from Taiwan.
We are assisting them with the sorting and distribution of shoes amongst Street Kids, Orphanages and schools. Once the containers are empty, Kidsworld has the option of having some of the containers, and which we will use in our Creative Container Project, for schooling, creative training and skills training.

During one of our Leadership Seminars in February 2009 in Mtongwe south of Mombasa, Kenya, we were introduced to Pastor John Kennedy Ouma from Bamburi which is situated just north of Mombasa. Pastor John shared with us the work him and his wife were doing among the Street Kids in their local area, and invited us to visit them at their home and to see for ourselves what they were doing.
On our next trip to Mombasa in 2010 we visited Pastor John and his wife Judith at their home from where they were caring for Street Kids on a weekly basis through a small feeding scheme.
We decided to assist them by starting a sewing project through which young girls would be trained in sewing and dressmaking skills, and that the project will at the same time also support Centers, the Street Kids feeding project, and so the Bamburi Kidsworld Center was born…
