KHALWENGE – Uplifting the Village – Mount Elgon
After an open meeting with the pastors, leaders and elders of Khalwenge
in which their desire for change and willingness to do what is necessary,
Covenant Ministries and Kidsworld decided to spearhead a development
project to help the people of Khalwenge uplift and develop their village through
agricultural & infrastructure development, educational training & resources,
as well as skills and managerial training for the whole village.
… and in particular to help the village develop their future…
through the Kidsworld Creative Training project.

14 Years Kidsworld – (and counting…)
Kidsworld is about Kids, and specifically Street Kids,
with the express intention of giving them a real hope for a real future
– through care, education and skills training –
Kidsworld is not about building buildings,
– but about building lives.
Kidsworld is not about putting kids in a home
– but integrating them into the community they were born in.
Kidsworld is not just about feeding and clothing kids
– but teaching them practical skills for life.
Kidsworld is not just about educating kids
– but teaching them to dream BIG through our Creative Awareness Schooling.

Kidsworld – Covenant Home – Liyavo – Kenya
At the beginning of 2003, I was invited by Pastor Edward Khaoya to speak at his church
that was meeting in a small room in Matisi in the Kitale district, where I ministered on
‘God wants to be part of what we do’
and … out of that small meeting, in that small church, much was about to develop.
In 2004 Kidsworld started ‘Covenant Home’ in Livayo, Kitale, in a rather sad building.
As this building was simply not adequate, we continued looking for better and safer premises.
Two years later, not far away, we were able to move to an new rented building.
Around this time pastor Edward, who made it his goal to obtain external funding,
and through Neighbours Aid Australia, we could continue to develop Covenant Home.
The Street Kids at Kidsworld Covenant Home steadily increased to well over 30 kids,
and it was a great blessing that Neighbour Aid said they wanted to build their
own home for the kids and also to take over the administration of the home,
with pastor Edward being appointed to lead the new project
‘Kitale Family House of Hope’.
At Kidsworld we were excited about this development, as
this would allow us to continue with our original vision, of starting …
new Kidsworld projects, that are able to develop and grow on their own.
At the new home, Kidsworld assisted in the building of the kitchen, with stove
and equipment, as well as with the construction of temporary school rooms,
until a new school building was erected on a separate property.
15 years after meeting and ministering in Pastor Edward’s humble one room church,
I was blessed to be invited to minister in one of the classrooms of the
‘House of hope Academy’

Covenant Center – Creativity Awareness Workshops
As the New Year approaches, registration for the 2018 Releasing Creativity & Creative Awareness Workshops
has opened, and to date more than 16 schools have confirmed their intention to attend the workshops in 2018.

With the New Year and the start of the Creative Awareness Workshops and Training getting ever closer,
we are concentrating on the preparation of the Offices, Computer Workshop and the remodelling of
the Container, which will be used for workshops, Computer and skills training, as well as storage.
The container did not arrive quite as planned
but we soon got it up straight again & placed
next to its final position.
Because of the need for adequate workshops space
it was decided to double the width of the container
and the foundation was then laid accordingly.
With the container safely placed on its new concrete
base, work has started on the foundation & structure
of the planned extension.
In the mean time …
Following our initial introductory workshops during September, which were very well attended by quite a
number of school directors, principals and head teachers, we have registered more than 15 primary as
as well as secondary schools, representing over 3000 children. With our envisaged yearly number
of maximum 20 schools, we are about to reach our target for 2018.

Hearns – Kidsworld Center – Maili Saba
Hearns Kidsworld – New Training Center.
With the new building complete, Hearns Kidsworld Center was now ready to take a big step forward.
To be able to increase the skills training center to accommodate 16 girls at a time, as well as continue
caring for street kids, some additional funds would be required …
Hearns Kidsworld – ‘Fashion Center’
In line with Kidsworld’s vision of growth through achievement, Hellen took the bold step of turning the
old training facility into a small ‘fashion’ shop, where the clothes that were being made whilst training,
could be displayed and in this way advertise the Center and attract buyers.
The additional revenue would be used to subsidise the new larger training center and at the same time
also boost the care for street kids.
Not only has this become a reality, but is also an example and challenge to other Kidsworld Centers,
to dream bigger and grow, founded on own effort and achievement.

Although we are all creative, creativity goes beyond thinking or just producing a work
of art, and even goes beyond expressing who you are, in what you wear, in what you
do, and in particular in what you do to and for others.
It is therefore not possible to have a set syllabus, or even to have a set structure,
… it is personal!
Creativity can therefore not be pre-structured but needs to be individually experienced
and personally expressed …
The ‘Creative’ training will be presented in open workshops, and is primarily aimed at
those involved in teaching and training, exposing them to a free thinking environment
without limitations … aimed at active learning, application and real results!
While this process is not new, what makes it unique is the realization of man’s creative
ability, which has been lying dormant in most of our lives, as it has not been considered
as real or important, but as special to only a few … an assumption that is proved to be
inaccurate by merely observing a child at play.
It is in fact an essential part of man’s existence and development!
Join us by becoming personally involved, the next generation needs your input,
even if you have not recognized those special, creative abilities in yourself
… they are there, waiting to be released, developed and shared!

Since – 2004
In 2010 we met Hellen Mwashi the leader of the Hearns Centre in Maili Saba, a village in the Kitale district.
At that time they were in a small rented room where they were training 4 girls at a time in basic sewing skills.
We saw the opportunity to help grow their centre as well as benefiting from Hellen’s knowledge and skills.

With the growth in Skills Training opportunities it was soon obvious that we needed a bigger centre, as well as the number of Street Kids the Centre was caring for having grown to 10 kids, we erected a small building consisting of 3 rooms, which would see us through the next few years.
At the end of 2015 we had our first ‘official’ graduation for six very proud young girls, who over the past year not only learnt a life skill themselves, but whose efforts during their year of training, greatly assisted in the care of Hearns Centre’s Street Kids.

In the new Centre Hellen will now be able to train 16 girls
whilst continuing to care for and school our 10 Street kids

Kidsworld Shoes Container – Kitale, Kenya
The first Container arrived from Step30, an outreach group from Taiwan.
We are assisting them with the sorting and distribution of shoes amongst Street Kids, Orphanages and schools. Once the containers are empty, Kidsworld has the option of having some of the containers, and which we will use in our Creative Container Project, for schooling, creative training and skills training.
